This week in the Technology Lab we are learning about famous American inventors. First Ms. Hoyt’s kindergarteners watched a BrainPopJr.com video about George Washington Carver. After discussing his accomplishments and why we should remember him, students made videos using the PhotoSpeak app to share what they learned. Their videos were compiled via iMovie on a Macbook. Enjoy their work!
Ms. Hoyt’s class watched this video from our February Symbaloo webmix to learn about why we celebrate President’s Day. Next, they used the Draw and Tell app to draw any symbol that reminded them of President’s Day and record their response to the question, “Why do we celebrate President’s Day?” Their videos were compiled using iMovie on a Macbook. Last week Ms. Hoyt’s class used this virtual snowflake maker via this January Symbaloo webmix to create their own snowflakes. Their snowflakes were made into a video using Keynote on a Macbook. Next that video was imported into iMovie where we then recorded them counting the snowflakes. Enjoy their work!
In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. day, Ms. Hoyt’s students learned about his life and his work. First, they watched a BrainPop, Jr. video about him.
We discussed how Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. wanted to help others. Students used the Drawing Pad app to draw a picture of how they could helps others, too. Enjoy their work!
Ms. Hoyt’s Kindergarteners listened to the book Tacky the Penguin by Helen Lester online by visiting this Symbaloo webmix. Next they played an interactive game called Kahoot that allows teachers to create online, interactive games about whatever topic they would like. The students had fun competing to answer questions on their iPads.
